General Membership Meeting Minutes
November 19, 2009
The meeting was called to order
at 4:30 pm with 47 members present.
The minutes from the previous
meeting were read and accepted.
The treasurer’s report was
suspended via a motion.
Jack Haynes was absent.
Recognition of new members –
Presidents Report-
The presidents Grievance summary
is as follows –
- Foreman working overtime heard 10/14 (denied)
- Insubordination (filed)
- Grievance scheduling (Filed)
- Overtime (carpenters) (filed)
Arbitration summary –
- Written warning (safety) scheduled December 11.
- 2 day DLO scheduled 10/22 rescheduled to Dec. 16th.
- Working out of classification (Pay) scheduled Jan. 25th.
- Pay issue (working out of classification) scheduled for January 12th.
- Contractor working OT January 26th.
- Job transfer February 2nd.
- Still waiting to hear from MERC (Unit clarification).
Other Business under the president’s report –
- Look at LTD coverage and consider an FSA. Ken reported that it isn’t that expensive and is worth looking at.
- Forms on website. (Sick and Vacation sell-back, Transfer, Flex time request.)
- Plant re-org. Committees being formed by management to decide best way to go forward. Construction Services electricians doing customer pay work in Facilities Maintenance. Move to trying to have all customer pay work done through Construction Services.
- Big Buck contest. Volunteers to judge? Keith O’Neil, Tim Breternitz, and Nelson Amerheim, top 3 winners get a jacket everyone else gets a T- shirt or mug.
- There will be a party in place of the regular membership meeting for December.
Committee reports –
- Scholarship committee – reported they received $220 for the sale of the laptop.
- Safety Committee – nothing to report.
- Apprenticeship committee – Apprentices are obligated to attend the meetings. It was suggested to put notification on the mailings. Tom Clements wants more apprentices here unless they are excused.
- OT committee working on overtime program. Close to completion. ·
Unfinished Business –
· Washtenaw
skilled building trades council is looking for a donation to Mott children’s
hospital. There was a motion to donate
$200.00 to the Mott Children’s hospital. The motion was seconded and the motion
passed.
Good of the union –
The jacket drawing was held and number 365 Kenneth Pope wasn’t present so $20.00 more goes into the pocket.
