General Membership Meeting Minutes
May 24, 2007


The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 40 members present.

All officers were present.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.

The treasurer’s report was read and accepted.

Recognition of new members –

• There were no members sworn in

Reports Of accidents sickness and death -

It was reported that -
• Ed Ptaszynskis brother Died.
• Ed Ptaszynskis uncle passed also.
• Mike Crawford father passed

The Presidents Report -

Grievances summary –

The grievance report is as follows –

• Overtime Hospital a/c shop heard on the 23rd and was granted.
• Harassment (employee) Heard
• Harassment (steward) Heard
• Sheet metal O.T filed
• Carpenter O.T filed
• Dearborn work Boots scheduled for 5/29
• 3 weekend plumbing overtime issues with contractors- Grievance filed.

Arbitration summary –

• Medicare Part B award. Want to make sure that all eligible employees know.
• Temporary Employees will be another 6 weeks before a decision.
• ULP over representation problems scheduled for July 10th.

Other business –

Other business under the president’s report –

• Is there any Interest in info about LTD. We will be scheduling a presentation from benefits regarding Long-term disability at a general membership meeting.
• There was a meeting to discuss apprentice overtime. The outcome was there will be a Ratio of apprentices to journeyman.
• Electric shop reorganization. Separating out the shops merging maintenances and zones.
• New benefits change policy that will stream line special life event changes such as baby, marriage, etc.

Committee reports –
• Apprenticeship committee – tested the new group of applicants.
• Scholarship committee - next month 9 will be given out.

Unfinished business –
There was no unfinished business to discuss.

New business –

• We are looking for volunteers for the open E-board seat. Don is retiring so there is a seat available. John Nichols Mark Worszack, Keith O’Neil all expressed interest. The E-board will meet to decide who will fill in until next election.

• Survey of importance – last month Sick time, Contractors and retirement. Retirement was picked as the most important.

• This months topics are wages, contractors, and overtime.

• The order is as follows.

Wages - 17
Contractors-10
Ot – 0
Wages was most important.

Good Of the Union –
• Retirements – Don Pacheco, Clara Bell, Bill Singer, Ron Hanson, Joe Fleming and Jim Carlson.
• Jacket give away number 4 was drawn William Abraham wasn’t present.
• Ken thanking Don for his years of work as a president and Vice President.
• Motion for Ed patszkynski’s wife that the union allocate $100.00 for a gift certificate to take his wife out to dinner for her work making quilts for the scholarship committee.

Amendment to pay for the materials each time she makes items.

The motion was seconded and the motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:10 pm
