General Membership Meeting Minutes
March 27, 2008


 

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 43 members present.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.

There was a motion to suspend the reading of the treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded and the motion passed.

All officers were present.

Recognition of new members

There were 0 new members sworn in.

Reports of accidents sickness and death –

  • It was reported that
  • Marvin Peach’s mother passed
  • Rodney Greene still out
  • Mike Erb mother passed.

Presidents Report –

The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –

  •  Verbal warning  (just Cause) Heard 3/20
  • Job Transfer heard 3/20
  • Employee working out of classification (safety) heard on 3/20
  • Verbal reprimand (filed).

Arbitration summary –

The president’s arbitration summary is as follow –

 

  • Discharged employee heard Feb 19th Awarded.
  • Vacation issue scheduled march 11th settled
  • Sick-time issues March 18th (heard)
  • Job transfer April 14th
  • OT remedy scheduled May 20th.

 

Other Business under the president’s report –

 

  • Geo Contract settled we will meet April 2nd with all campus labor council.
  • Discussed pickets and other local support
  • Charging time to Jobs. OT
  • University always steps up enforcement in contract year be careful.

 

Committee reports –

  • Scholarship committee – will draw the names for the applicants under new business. Nine scholarships and 1 alternate.
  • Safety Committee- nothing
  • Apprenticeship committee – interviews start in May for the new 2008 year.

Unfinished Business –

  • We need volunteers for set up of the dinner dance for next Friday.
  • 10 rooms reserved at best western $86.00 per night Mention Mark Warzacks name.

There was a motion to fund a golf outing at Timber Trace on June 14th with a budget of  $6000.00 Bill Smith will be the chair. Tickets price will be $30.00. The motion was seconded and the motion passed.

There was a motion to cap the figure not to exceed $6000.00 for future outings.

The motion was discussed. There was no one to second the motion and the motion was denied.

  

Good of the union –

  • The jacket drawing was held and number 477 was drawn. Brian Wahl            Was not present.

Adjournment –

The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 pm
