General Membership Meeting Minutes
July 23, 2009


The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 36 members present.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.
The Treasurers report was read and accepted.
All officers were present.

Nelson Amrhein was introduced as a new e-board rep.

Recognition of new members

There was 1 new member sworn in.

Reports of accidents sickness and death –

It was reported that

  • Keith Dietrick passed away
  • Pat Jamison is fighting cancer
  • Ed Adams  mother passed
  • Don Aikins sister passed

Presidents Report –

The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –

 

  • 2 day DLO heard 6/11. Denied
  • Pay issue (working out of classification) heard 6/11. Denied
  • Transfer filed. (Article 22) Heard.
  • Written warning filed.
  • Working on special conference to discuss CP painter conflict of interest.

Arbitration summary –

  • Termination grievance heard 4/30/09. Granted. Full back pay.
  • Payroll issues heard 5/01/09 submitted.
  • 2 day DLO submitted
  • Working out of classification submitted

Other Business under the president’s report -

 

  • Would like to get a list of people who are unable to get correct sick / vacation balances.
  • University will be doing health care dependent eligibility audit in January 2010.
  • August 17th through December 18th the university will be offering an amnesty program where employees can drop their dependents that do not meet eligibility.
  • Representative from benefits to answer questions in August.
  • Thank you to Richard for filling in.
  • Thank you to scholarship committee.
  • Setup Plant-op meeting in October?
  • John Nichols resigned and Nelson Amrhein will be replacing John.

 

Committee reports –

  • Apprenticeship committee – reported they had 6 month interviews and there was a good bunch of candidates.

Unfinished Business –

  •  The info for child eligibility for health care is available on line and next month benefits will be out to answer questions.

New Business –

  • Re-org in plant, what does the union know? Jeff Bentley was on the committee and gave a report indicating they are just talking and looking for ideas and they will review everything to see where improvements can be made.
  • Pfizer property- issues over 1 employee and the union is addressing.

It was reported that Otis elevator is working on a 6 month extension.

  • Tiger baseball trip- Employee price is $25 per ticket. $4500.00 from the union the game will be Sat Aug 29 with a 4:05 pm game. Meet at plant like last year.

There was a motion the motion was seconded and the motion passed.

Good of the union –

The jacket drawing was held and number 247 Ronald King wasn’t present so $20.00 more goes into the pocket.

Adjournment –

The meeting was adjourned at 5:05  pm.
