General Membership Meeting Minutes
July 26, 2007


The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 35 members present.

Skip Shultz and Jack Haynes were absent.

The minutes from the previous meeting were waived via a motion

The treasurer’s report was waived via motion.

Recognition of new members –  

There were no new members sworn in.

Reports of accidents sickness and death

 IT was reported that  - Sam Rochon passed away.

 The Presidents report

The president’s report is as follows –

 Grievance summary –

 6 construction services overtime grievances heard on 6/29

  • Carpenter job in zone was filed.
  • No notice for pay deduction filed..

Arbitration summary –

The president’s arbitration summary is as follows –

 Representation pre-trial heard on the july10th.

Other business under the president’s report –

  • SHPS debit card incorrect purchases save your receipts for IRS reasons and audits.
  • LTD presentation at August membership meeting.
  • Ken had a meeting with Rich Robbins and Paul Guttman regarding hospital maintenance contract.
  • Many payroll issues (mostly at the hospital) Met with Lowell and payroll.
  • John Lund new Construction services employee representative.
  • Nominations for officers at the September membership meeting.
  • Be careful where you go with the vans.

Committee reports –

Apprenticeship committee – The apprenticeship committee reported that there was a short meeting and that there will possibly be 2 new electrical and 1 elevator shop apprenticeships coming up.

Scholarship committee –

There is a raffle for quilts and tickets are available $10.00 each. Drawing will be on October 25th.

Unfinished Business -

Sams benefit picnic is coming up.

There was a motion to convert the $250.00 for a donation to the family. That motion was seconded. The motion passed.

 New Business –

There was a motion for refreshments for the officer elections. The motion is for a donation from the union to cater the Election Day. No dollar amount was specified. The motion was seconded and the motion was passed.

 The Board was looking for Suggestions for the contract discussions.

  • Improving long-term disability and get it funded by the university. Make it progressive. More years service the less you pay

Good of the union –

 The jacket drawing was held and number 102 was drawn Michael Cobb wasn’t present. $20.00 goes in the pocket.
