General Membership Meeting Minutes
February 28, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 43  members present.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.

The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted.

Recognition of new members –

There was 1 new member sworn in.

Reports of accidents sickness and death –

It was reported that Chuck Towers father passed, Bill Berry injured, Phil Smiley injured, Bill Green surgery,  Rodney Greene is still off work.

   Presidents Report –

The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –

Grievance for verbal warning (just cause)

Job Transfer.

Arbitration summary –

Discharged Employee heard Feb 19th.

Vacation issues scheduled March 11th.

Sick time issues March 18th

Job transfer April 14th.

Other Business under the president’s report –

Problems with SHPS Card. everything should be resolved. Log in to check your Balances please report any issues.

Reimbursement forms available.

April 24th opening of contract talks.

Employees should review contract.

Steward’s books passed out.

Petition on transfer issues.

FASAP workshop.

Committee reports –

Scholarship committee – 13 applications 10 scholarships will be decided on march 24th.

Apprenticeship committee – Apprentice interview under way in the elevator shop.

Dinner dance – April the 5th.

New Business –

There was a motion  to purchase a new computer for the office not to exceed $2000.00. There was support and the motion passed.

New motion for budget not to exceed $9000.00 for the spring fling with a $20.00 donation towards the scholarship fund. There was support and the motion was passed.

Is there any interest in a golf outing at Timber Trails golf course? There was a majority of interest.

Good of the union –

Jacket give away + $60.00. The Jacket drawing was held and number 274 was drawn. Brian Luttermoser wasn’t present.

50/50 drawing.
