General Membership Meeting Minutes
June 25, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 33 members present.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.
The treasurer’s report was waived via a motion but left open to review at the end of the meeting.
All officers were present except Ken Chaves (vacation).
Recognition of new members –
There were no new members sworn in.
Reports of accidents sickness and death –
It was reported that
- Terry Chaffee’s daughter passed away.Randy Takacs mother in law passed away.Rob powers injuredJamie booth injured

Presidents Report –
The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –
- Sick time issues heard 5/01/09. DeniedPayroll issues heard 5/01/09. Granted in part2 day DLO heard 6/11.
- Pay issue heard 6/11
Arbitration summary –
- Waiting on answer for termination grievance heard 4/30/09
Other Business under the president’s report –
- Ken would like to get a list of people who are unable to get correct sick / vacation balances.University will be doing health care dependent eligibility audit in January 2010.August 17th through December 18th the university will be offering an amnesty program where employees can drop their dependents that do not meet eligibility without penalty.Everyone should take a few minutes and review their information and make sure they are compliant.
- Report on ACLC meeting- Bob, Keith, jack, and Richard attended.
Committee reports -
- Scholarship committee – awarding 10 scholarships tonight.Safety Committee –nothing to report
- Apprenticeship committee – nothing to report
Unfinished Business –
We need a Clarification on age for insurance from staff benefits.
New Business –
- Need motion to reimburse vacation time to those who attended ACLC meeting.
There was a motion to reimburse a day’s wages for Jack Bob and Keith O’Neil for their days wages. The motion was seconded and the motion passed.
- Fred Wenners wants to address the apprenticeship committee
Good of the union –
The jacket drawing was held and number 253 Melvin Knox Jr wasn’t present so $20.00 more goes into the pocket.
The Scholarship committee rewarded 10 scholarships tonight. The recipients did an introduction and where they are attending and what they are studying.
Skip says zones and around campus maintenance mechanics doing trades work. If you see this let your stewards know spread the word so the issue can be addressed.
Sub contract painters at Kresge executive residents. They are believed to be non union.
John Nichols – addressed the body he is going to resign after tonight. The body suggested he reconsider.. John suggested he would let the body talk and he would reconsider based on the feedback he gets.
