General Membership Meeting

February 23, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 45 members present.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read waived.

The treasurer’s report was read and accepted.

All officers except Bob Melise were present.

Recognition of new members –

There were 4 new member sworn in. 

Reports of accidents sickness and death –

It was reported that-

None

Presidents Report –

The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –

• Season day work cancelled, retaliation heard.
• Refusal to fold BMET into current contract filed.
• Team Leader Pay filed.

Arbitration summary –

• MM at hospital doing electrical work heard December 14th. Granted
• Powerhouse Steamfitter replacement January 30
• NCRC ballasts January 17.
• Outsourcing to US Water January 9
• Electricians doing Mason work February 8th. Extra thanks to Bill Porath!

Other Business under the president’s report –

• BMET vote will be completed by the 30th. Ballots counted on the 31st. Overwhelming yes.
• Construction Services Painters, Electricians, and Carpenters will receive payments on the 27th.
• A real struggle to get the BMET’s properly recognized. University so far refuses to apply terms and conditions of our current agreement. Grievance and ULP under way.

Committee reports –

• Safety Committee –

• Tom Clements reported about the changes in the committee, new members and coordinator.

Unfinished Business –

none

New Business -

Motion to donate $250 to Jeff Treadway’s sons travel softball team. There was support and the motion passed.

Good of the union –

Tom Sullivan, the apprenticeship coordinator was present. The Union presented Tom with a watch and thanked him for all he has done throughout the years to help train skilled trades apprentices. Tom will be retiring in May.

No one was present to win the $340 in the jacket.
